SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport Police arrested two men early Friday morning after they reportedly led police on an overnight car chase.

The chase began when police attempted to initiate a traffic stop with the suspects on Bert Kouns near Southern Hills Park.

Officers reportedly followed the suspects at a high rate of speed until the driver crashed into a light pole at a dead end near the Newcast Subdivision. That's when police say the suspect jumped out of the crashed out car and took off running.

Shreveport will host a special meet of Studebaker automobiles and enthusiasts on September 10, 2011.

The Studebaker Drivers Club is an international group of about 13,000 members devoted to the marque.  Each year, SDC declares an International Drive Your Studebaker Day (IDYSD), encouraging members to put their cars on the road to remind the public of the contribution of Studebaker vehicles for over a century.  This year, the SDC of Louisiana will host their state event in Shreveport.

Traffic was slowed on the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 3132 (Inner Loop) and Linwood Ave. when an asphalt truck lost its load. The driver told police the back of the truck came open for some reason, and spilled the load on three cars behind the truck. One driver was slightly injured when her car hit a light pole. Police said there were no tickets issued in the accident.
