Accident on Bert Kouns knocks over liquid nitrogen truck | Transportation

Traffic heading north on East Bert Kouns at the railroad tracks between the Automall and LA Hwy. 3132 was detoured for several hours Wednesday after a truck carrying liquid nitrogen was hit and knocked over.

Shreveport Police say the truck had stopped at the railroad tracks. An SUV behind the truck swerved to go around it and hit an Air-Vac truck. That impact knocked the Air-Vac truck into the liquid nitrogen truck, causing it to roll over.

The fire department said the liquid nitrogen truck did develop a leak, but the chemical is not harmful and is dissapating into the air.

Two people in the SUV went to the hospital with minor injuries. Neither of the truck drivers were hurt.
