Third downtown trolley tour celebrates downtown living

As Millennials graduate into the workforce and Baby Boomers retire, downtowns across the country as seeing a surge of interest in urban living. A recent article in Forbes magazine reported that downtowns are seeing a double-digit increase in residential growth.

Once every two years, the Downtown Development Authority, with the help of downtown residents and owners, hosts its popular Downtown Residential Open House. This year’s tour runs from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 18. The tour will run the gamut from open concept lofts to penthouse pads to a suite where stars lounge in between movie shoots.

Goodwill Industries to host Job Fair and Donation Drive

Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana is will be hosting a job fair and donation drive, Saturday, May 12, from 10am – 2pm.

The job fair and donation drive will be held at the Pierremont Store on Bert Kouns (located between Wal-Mart and Tinseltown).  Plus, Lifeshare Blood Centers will be on hand accepting donations. 

Finally, anyone who donates, applies for a job or gives blood will be eligible to win great door prizes including gift certificates to Jack Binion’s Steakhouse, 1800 Prime Steakhouse, Bella Fresca, the Village Grill and much more.

Goodwill Industries named finalist in Toyota's 2012 100 Cars for Good program

North Louisiana-based Goodwill Industries announces that it has been selected as one of 500 nonprofit finalists in Toyota's 100 Cars for Good program.

The automaker is giving 100 cars to 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days. Goodwill was selected as a finalist from more than 4,000 applications nationwide.

Each day, beginning May 14, 2012, 100 Cars for Good will profile five finalists at www.100carsforgood.com.
