Southfield School hosting Open House

Southfield School is hosting an Open House from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 12. The school is located at 1100 Southfield Road, just north of Pierremont Avenue between Southern Avenue and Fairfield Avenue. Southfield teaches students from Preschool 2 through 8th grade.

Centenary, First United Methodist choirs hosting free performance

The combined choirs of the First United Methodist Church and Centenary College will host a free special debut performance of James Eakin’s Flowers Over the Graves of War. The performance will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12 in the Sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church. The church is located at the head of Texas Street in downtown Shreveport. There will be a full orchestra with the choirs and the performance is free and open to the public.

University Elem. hosts Wildcat 5K Walk/Run

Members of University Elementary's Parent-Teacher Association will host its first ever Wildcat 5K Walk/Run in February of next year.

Organizers of the event hope to raise money for more technology for the elementary school. 

The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 4, 2012 on the campus of LSU-Shreveport. There will be 1/2 Mile Fun Run, which will kick off at 8:00 a.m.

Krewe de les Femmes  Mystique,along with the LSU AgCenter and the Northwest Chapter of the Louisiana Restaurant Association, has extended the deadline for submission of recipes for the Healthy School Lunch Contest.

The LSU Shreveport Fall Commencement ceremony will be on Sunday, December 18 at 2 p.m. at CenturyLink Center in Bossier City, La. The commencement address will be given by Ronnie L. Bryant, CEcD, FM, a 1991 alumnus and current president and CEO of Charlotte Regional Partnership.

American Red Cross offers flu shot clinic Wed.

The flu shot is the best way to protect yourself from the flu. Everyone can benefit from the flu shot, but those most at risk from the flu include individuals 65 and over, those with diseases of the immune system or those in general ill health. So the American Red Cross will sponsor a flu shot clinic for Ark-La-Tex residents who have not gotten their flu shots.

The clinic will be held Wednesday, November 2nd from 9 a.m.

Bossier Parish Community College will host its annual job fair from 12 - 3 p.m. on Friday, October 28 at its campus, located at 6220 E. Texas St. in Bossier City. The event will be in the Student Services Building.
