The Barnwell Garden and Art Center is looking for volunteers for its quarterly clean up day for the Conservatory and patio areas. The clean up begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday March 17 at 601 Clyde Fant Parkway and is open to anyone interested in helping.

In celebration of Genealogy Education Month, the Ark-La-Tex Genealogical Association and the Broadmoor Branch Library Genealogy Department will sponsor a Family History Assistance Day on Saturday, March 3 at the Broadmoor Branch Library, 1212 Captain Shreve Drive. Registration begins at 9:00 A.M. in the large meeting room. In the morning there will be two “Family History Skills” presentations.  After a lunch break, the participants will return to the library genealogy department for an “Afternoon at the Library”.

Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR) will host an organizational meeting for its Spring Adult Softball League at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 15 at the SPAR Athletics Office located on 7401 Jewella Avenue. All participating teams are strongly urged to attend. The entry deadline for teams is on March 23, 2012. The season is scheduled to begin on April 9, 2012.
