Early voting begins Saturday for April 6 election

Secretary of State Tom Schedler is encouraging all Louisianians eligible to vote in the April 6 primary election to consider voting early starting this Saturday. Early voting begins Saturday, March 23rd and continues through Saturday, March 30. The polls will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, excluding Good Friday (March 29) and Easter Sunday (March 31).

“Health Reform Update: What It Means to You” is the topic of a special presentation by Cliff Broussard, administrator of WK Bossier Health Center.

The free discussion, open to the public, will be Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 6 p.m. in Tower at The Oaks ballroom.

Curtis Hooks, Caddo Parish School Board member for District 5, will host a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

The meeting will be held in the Fair Park High School auditorium, located at 3222 Greenwood Road.

In an effort that they hope will encourage voter participation, The Exchange Club of Bossier will hold a Meet the Candidates Night.

Visitors will hear candidates in several local races starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in downtown Shreveport at 102 Lake St.

Election issues focus of Democratic Women rally

A political rally and a get-out-the-vote push top the list of items at the upcoming meeting of the Caddo-Bossier Federation of Democratic Women. The gathering runs from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 25 in the Round-Up Room at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds.

Professionals with broad understanding of education, health care, taxes and women's issues will be among the guest speakers.

There will also be discussion on voter registration for the November election.

The Southern Hills Business Association will hold their monthly meeting at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, July 31st, at their Conference Center, located at 9701 Baird Rd. State Senator Sherrie Buffington will give an overview of this year’s Legislative session. Representatives Alan Seabaugh and Richard Burford have been invited as well.
