Car crashes into South Shreveport auto parts store

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA)- A Shreveport man having car trouble found himself driving into a South Shreveport auto parts store, literally, Thursday afternoon.

Shreveport police were called to the Advanced Auto Parts store in the 8900 block of Mansfield Road for a report of a car hitting the building.

Major accident on Youree Dr. at E. Flournoy

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA)- Shreveport police and fire crews responded to a major accident with injuries at Youree Drive and E. Flournoy Lucas Thursday morning.

The head-on collision happened around 11:20 a.m. Police on the scene believe a pickup truck ran a red light and hit a utility truck heading south on Youree Drive. The exact cause of the wreck is still under investigation, however.

Forcht Wade Correctional Center to close this summer

CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA)- A Louisiana corrections center in south Caddo Parish is expected to close this summer, putting 139 people out of work.

Forcht Wade Correctional Center is one of three prison facilities in Louisiana feeling the pinch of state budget cuts. The Department of Corrections will also close the Dabadie Correctional Center in Pineville and privatize the Avoyelles Correctional Center in Cottonport (You can read more on statewide budget cuts here).
