The Fit for Life Sports Weekend takes place May 12-13 and will feature more than 20,000 athletes from around the world competing in a variety of sporting events throughout Shreveport and Bossier.  

Bodybuilding, strongman competitions and arm wrestling are just a few of the varying athletes and sports you will see competing at the Shreveport Convention Center.  

Admission is $20 per person at the Shreveport Convention Center on Saturday, May 12 and will give spectators access to all events throughout the day.

The Caddo-Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will be offering a free 20 hour Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course at the Shreveport Fire Training Academy Theater starting Tuesday May 1, 2012 and running for three additional Tuesday nights from 6:00 P.M.

LSU Health Shreveport is giving folks a chance to see what happens each day in the classrooms and research labs at its medical school.

People can sign up for a new program called Mini Med School. Participants will hear lectures from school faculity and get a hands-on experience of a medical school class. Folks do not need any kind of science background to sign up and the program is presented in an easy-to-understand style.
