Community Renewal is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Angel Award, which willl be presented at the Celebration of Caring - Saturday, April 20, in the Red River District in downtown Shreveport.

The deadline for nominations is April 5. This year's Celebration of Caring starts 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in the Red River District.

The Holiday in Dixie Ambassadors Club will host the inaugural Holiday in Dixie BBQ Cook-Off from 3 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 in the riverfront area of Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport.

Admission is $10 and includes three BBQ sample tickets. Additional sample tickets may be purchased for $1. Proceeds raised at the event will benefit the Holiday in Dixie Senior Essay Scholarship for Caddo and Bossier Parish students.

Preparations are underway for Evergreen's 6th annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner. The event will be held in South Shreveport at the East Ridge Country Club. Many first-time sponsors will be introduced along with those who have been faithful to support Evergreen's mission.

The overall theme for the event is “The Wild West” and some of Shreveport’s finest will serving tables and fulfilling the roles of an epic Western, from heroes, to gamblers, Indians, or railroad workers!
