LSU Shreveport to Host Regional Social Studies Fair

The 38th Annual Region I Social Studies Fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, at LSU Shreveport. This event is hosted by the Division of Continuing Education and Public Service at LSUS.

The Fair is for students in grades 4-12 from public and private schools in Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto and Webster parishes. The event gathers over 300 entries and 400 child participants. The students will present projects in Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science and Sociology.

MoJo's Nightclub in downtown Shreveport is the site of an on-going effort to keep the Shreveport dog park effort alive.

The Shreveport Dog Park Alliance is holdng a "Throw Me a Bone" fundraiser at MoJo's starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8. Donations at the door will go to the Dog Park Alliance.

LSUS's Phi Mu Fraternity plans fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network

The Epsilon Xi Chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity of Louisiana State University in Shreveport is planning to host a Hoop-A-Paluza at LSUS Gymnasium to benefit Children’s Miracle Network.

The Hoop-A-Paluza is a basketball fundraising event where participants collect donations or pledges during halftime of theLSUS Pilots and Lady Pilots last basketball home game of the season, to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 25. All proceeds will benefit Sutton Children’s Medical Center Hospital, the local Children’s Miracle Network hospital.

Louisiana’s sixth annual College Goal Sunday will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 24, at thirteen locations around the state. The purpose of College Goal Sunday is to provide students and their families with free professional assistance in completing the primary student financial aid form, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The LSU Shreveport Division of Continuing Education and the Northwest Louisiana Suicide Prevention Coalition will host the 7th Annual Suicide Prevention Conference February 22, 2013 in the LSU Shreveport University Center.

The conference will last from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., pausing for a brief lunch break. Lunch will be provided.
